Nominet is committed to net zero by 2050 and the SBTi has approved its near-term science-based emissions reduction target to decarbonise scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. In recognition of its carbon footprint, since 2018, Nominet has invested in international or UK nature-based carbon mitigation projects.

Who are Nominet?

Since 1996, Nominet has been operating at the heart of the internet as proud guardians of the .UK domain name registry. As a public benefit company, we run .UK for the greater good, working with our members to help bring the benefits of the internet to all. The Domain Name System (DNS) is an essential part of the internet’s infrastructure, and we help to run the DNS that supports vital government services, including the NHS. Below you will find information about the two woodland creation projects Nominet has supported in the UK, plus the Katingan peatland protection project in Indonesia. In addition, they have supported the Rimba Raya biodiversity reserve project, also in Indonesia. Both Katingan and Rimba Raya are certified under the Verified Carbon Standard. The total CO2 shown below in the dashboard includes the Rimba Raya figures as well as the projects reported.
